Cultural Activities

Our Weekly Events - Open for Everybody

HuoDongTo maximize the students grip on Chinese Culture That's Mandarin organizes weekly Cultural Events and activities, inside and outside of our campus. All of the events are thoroughly planned and participants are accompanied by our professional staff.

The activities aim to teach students about Chinese Culture and encourage each participant to use his/ her Chinese. The events are usually held in our campuses in Beijing and/ or Shanghai.

Events include

  • Game Nights (Chinese Chess and Majiang)
  • Movie Nights screening Chinese movies and discussing them afterwards
  • Culture Nights (Chinese Calligraphy, tea ceremonies)
  • Walking tours (Hutong, art district...)

 

In order to Learn Chinese to the highest standard it is important to develop a firm grip on Chinese Culture, the introduction of Cultural Activities alongside our full immersion attitude will set you in the right direction!

    An ancient martial art consisting of a series of traditional body movements. As the body and spirit are united in harmony, students can relax even more while learning Chinese. Our group Taiji activities are a fantastic opportunity for Chinese enthusiasts to get together and enjoy the ancient traditions in unity!

    Our Calligraphy activities are always a popular event! Students will learn under our team of Chinese school experts, trying out different traditional calligraphy styles. Well hold small competitions for the best works and put them up online for our whole community to see!

    Learn the world famous Ming Dynasty game, and compete against your classmates; in Mandarin. A great chance to practise your language and gaming skills. We'll give you the rules to get you started, the rest is up to you. Let the games begin!

    Join us for a variety of Chinese language movie screenings at our campus, relax on our sofas and enjoy the free fruit and beer! The perfect was to be social whilst learning. Every screening is followed up with a discussion where learners can practice their Chinese and share their thoughts.

    Join us for our traditional cooking classes, where students learn how to make Chinese delicacies such as the infamous eastern treat; dumplings (Jiaozi - 饺子). Master the artful skill of creating these delcious mini parcels, a true Chinese tradition, yum!

    The Great Wall spans from China’s Western desert to its Eastern coast. We like to head over to Simatai a less known, further part of the wall that boasts spectacular views and steep peaks. For our daring students there is a zip line that crosses the Simatai Lake!

    Beijing is notorious for its winding, majestic hutongs. These crooked streets really conjure up a sense of the Old Beijing and are the perfect place to get lost. Join us as we wander around our neighborhood, and its surrounding hutongs, sample street food and escape into the traditional!

    The right place to go for a taste of old China. Established almost 1,700 years ago and located on the outskirts of Shanghai, Zhujiajiao is quite literally a city built on water, with houses criss-crossed by canals. Students will get to witness a truly unique part of China.
