Evaluation and Guidance

Students’ language proficiency levels are evaluated by the That’s Mandarin Placement and Exit Test at the beginning and end of your Chinese language program. Your school supervisor will, on occasion, sit in on your class to monitor your overall progress then report back to you on how best to improve. Students will receive a language progress evaluation report with detailed suggestions for improvement, including comments on pronunciation, tones, vocabulary, grammar, classroom interaction, etc. You will also receive a plan for how best to progress from your current level.

After you have studied Mandarin with us for a few weeks, we will email you your progress report. You can review this to see how we feel you are progressing, and we can then discuss any points that you are unclear about. The progress report will indicate the time frame within which we believe you can achieve the goals we have set out.

At the end of the Chinese course you will receive a final progress report. This will show exactly what you have achieved in the course, and what would be important for you to focus on to improve further. On request we can also provide a certificate as evidence of the level of Mandarin fluency that you have attained.
