Our Unique Textbooks

At That’s Mandarin we know that every student is different and has their own preferred study methods. That’s why we employ a blended learning philosophy. But students often ask us to recommend a text book that they can use to study in their own time, and over time we realised that we couldn’t find a really good one…so we wrote our own!

Our That’s Mandarin textbooks are designed to compliment and develop the language you learn in class. They are based upon our tried and tested link word and story telling methods, so rather than going over complex grammar drills you’ll find yourself taking an interest in what happens to the characters you meet inside them. Colourful, diverse and packed with pictures and stories, we guarantee that our textbooks won’t give you that sinking ‘homework time’ feeling you often had at school. Whether you want to learn to write Chinese, speak Chinese, read Chinese or all three, the mix of vocabulary, reading, writing and pronunciation activities will allow you to focus on the aspects of the language that interest you.

Learn Chinese Characters the Easy Way

If you’re keen to learn to write Chinese, our text books take you through the process of learning characters in a logical, easy to follow way. First you’ll master the stroke order, then you’ll come to understand the relationships between many characters by seeing them written step by step. That way you can practice to your heart’s content, knowing that you understand the fundamentals of written Chinese.
