The ‘Story Telling’ Method

At the heart of our Mandarin teaching methods is the use of stories. In stories you will come across lots of scenarios – not only will you learn new words and new grammar, but most importantly you will learn how to use the words and grammatical constructions. Instead of endless, boring lists of vocabulary, you will see these words used in their correct context. The stories are based around the events of people’s daily lives (from shopping to traveling on the subway, to going to the restaurant), and follow the emotions we all go through (such as anger, happiness, sadness and love ). Instead of the traditional method of following a book, our story orientated classes are the surest way to quickly improve your spoken Chinese. In class you will tell us the story of the handsome man, the beautiful girl, their families and the doctor as they go about their daily lives, with all their ups and downs. Students can use the characters in their stories to describe situations that they themselves are facing in daily life, which provides a great opportunity to learn the vocabulary you need to know. You are the main actor in the story, and you are the creator of the story! In every class your story will follow its own logical path – exciting, right?!
