Newspapers and Current Events - this course is tailored according to your requirements. We focus on Mandarin materials, splitting the time between translation and discussion of the articles. Alternatively we can work from English language materials such as The Economist, Newsweek or other newspapers and translate these into Mandarin.
Chinese News Broadcasts - many find the rapid dialogue and specialised vocabulary of news reports one of the most challenging parts of learning any new language. In this course we focus on radio and MP3 broadcasts, learning new vocabularies and discussing the issues of the day.
Films and Television Episodes - this course has two aims. The first is to develop your listening skills when hearing native speakers using colloquial language. We have a variety of films and television programmes that we have found to be particularly enjoyable for our students. As you watch, the teacher will ask you questions to develop your comprehension, and provide you with the new vocabulary that you encounter. The second aim is for you to be able to continue watching Chinese films and TV outside of the classroom. This is a particularly effective way of helping intermediate level students move into more advanced proficiency in the language.
Business Mandarin - given the growing importance of Mandarin in the business world, this course aims to provide an introduction to crucial vocabulary, as well as developing an understanding of Chinese business culture.
HSK Preparatory Course - regardless of the HSK level you are hoping to achieve, the specific requirements of the test can catch-out the unprepared. In this course we will first assess your Mandarin level across the required criteria, then decide on a program that ensures you are best prepared for success.
