What Our Students Say

My children, ages 5 and 11, were enrolled for 1 week and loved it so much that they asked to skip the other activities I had planned for them so that they could go to a second week of classes. They enjoy the cultural activities, meeting friends from around the world and practicing the Chinese characters.

My 3 kids ages 6, 9 and 10 years old have been attending the summer program at the Suzhou location. It really is an unforgettable experience and the staff is amazing. Teachers are very friendly and they gave us a spectacular welcome. You can learn A LOT in a short time. The excursions and the cultural classes are fascinating for the kids.

My kids have joined the summer camps 3 years in a row and each time, they are enrolled for 4 weeks. They are still loving it! The variety of topics and flexible teaching have kept my kids (ages 7, 9 & 11) interested in learning Mandarin.

Frequently Asked Questions

GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What is the course schedule?

It depends on the program:
- Half-day Camp features Chinese classes from 1:15pm to 3:50pm Monday to Friday;
- Day Camp also includes weekday morning cultural activities and excursions, 9:00am to 3:50pm;
- Full Camp students will also have weekend and afternoon activities.

Homestay camp schedule is the same as in Full Camp, except that on weekday evenings the campers will have dinner together with their homestay family.

Family camp schedule for kids is the same as in Day Camp, and for parents the class time is flexible.

Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are all native Chinese speakers who are highly-qualified and experienced in teaching Chinese to foreigners. Our teachers are university graduates with majors in Chinese language education or Chinese literature. They have also previously obtained a “teaching Mandarin as a second language” certificate before they joined us and successfully completed That’s Mandarin’s mandatory Teachers Training Course (TTC).

What teaching materials do you use?

We developed our own teaching and learning methods. We use our own Chinese learning platform for all our classes. There you can find all the materials, read the teacher’s comments, review your lessons, and even schedule your classes.

Will the classes be taught in English?

All of our classes are taught in Chinese to give students a fully immersive Chinese experience. Even for absolute beginners, our teachers will only use limited English to help you understand. Our teacher will use pictures, videos, signs, and gestures to help students remember and understand new material.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes. But it’s only available for Full and Homestay Camp students. But we can help find accommodation for Day Camp students as well.

Can I join this program another time except for the starting dates?

Yes, you can. But for a more complete experience, we would recommend you to join our program on Monday. Besides, the program is possible only in the summer.

Can I change the program duration?

You can. But you will need to let us know 1-2 months in advance. If you can’t come to our school this year due to an accident or any kind of unexpected situation, your kid can come and join our program next year.
