Good to Know: Subway is one of the most convenient ways to get around in Beijing. The system has been extended over recent years. Besides, it's very cheap! It costs 3 yuan to travel the shortest distance on one line, 9 yuan for the longest journey on one line, and 25 yuan for the Airport Express line.

Frequently Asked Questions

GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What is the course schedule?

You will have classes in the mornings, Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 11:50 am. You will have 3 classes in total with a duration of 50 minutes each with a 10-min break in between.

Who are the teachers?

All our teachers are native Chinese speakers, highly qualified and experienced in teaching Chinese to foreigners. They are university graduates with majors in Chinese language education or Chinese literature.

Before they join us, they have to obtain a Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL, or TCSOL) certificate, and successfully complete That’s Mandarin’s mandatory Teachers Training Course (TTC).

We have high requirements for our teachers, and only hire 5% of applicants.

What teaching materials do you use?

We've developed our own teaching and learning methods. We use our own in-house Chinese learning platform NihaoCafe for all classes. You will be able to find all your class materials, read the teacher’s comments, review your lessons, and schedule your classes.

Will the classes be taught in English?

All of our classes are taught in Chinese to give students a fully immersive Chinese experience. Even for absolute beginners, our teachers will only use limited English to help you understand them. Our teacher will use pictures, videos, signs, and gestures to help you learn.

As your Chinese level progresses, less and less English will be used in your classes and you will be able to understand more and more Chinese every day.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes. We can help you to arrange your accommodation in Beijing. Please contact us directly to get more information.

Isn’t learning Chinese for 3 hours per day too much?

Absolutely not. This way you will be able to absorb more information than if you learn Chinese only for an hour or two per day. Besides, there are 2 short breaks in between the classes, so that you can relax and get along with other students.

What will be my progress after this intensive Chinese program?

Your progress will be the fastest with this program among all our group class programs. You will complete 1 TM level in 4 weeks. Our level system is the following: TM1 = HSK1, TM2 = HSK2, TM3+4 = HSK 3, TM5+6+7+8 = HSK 4, TM Advanced Level = HSK5&6 (the content is customized).
